University of Findlay’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program honored faculty, instructors, and students with their first annual CCP awards in April. With 48 partner schools representing over 2,000 CCP students across Ohio, University of Findlay is the largest private provider of CCP in the state. Eastwood High School and Old Fort High School received top honors.
This year’s Student of the Year winner was Mylah Shoemaker, from Eastwood High School. Concurrent Enrollment Instructor of the Year was Cale Hover, from Eastwood High School. LeighAnne King received the School Counselor of the Year representing Old Fort High School. The Faculty Liaison of the Year from the University of Findlay was Nicole Diederich in English. To be nominated for the awards students, faculty, guidance counselors and administrators completed an essay on their nominee describing how they go above and beyond in their role with CCP coursework.
“Our first year of the University of Findlay CCP awards yielded 96 nominations for 4 awards. We were so pleased by the impressive and heartfelt nominations we received,” commented Rebecca Hillman, director of College Credit Plus. Winners received plaques and were recognized for their extraordinary efforts and commitment to CCP efforts and the University of Findlay.
Ohio’s College Credit Plus program provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college credits prior to high school graduation. The program promotes rigorous academic pursuits for eligible middle, high school and home-schooled students. Taking a college course from the University of Findlay through College Credit Plus is free for eligible Ohio students and includes no additional costs for tuition, books or associated fees.
University of Findlay’s CCP program is just one of two Ohio programs to hold national accreditation from the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).
Nominations for the next award season will be accepted throughout the 2025-2026 academic year to be awarded again at the conclusion of University of Findlay’s spring semester.
