The University of Findlay’s Print and Postal Services has moved its location on campus. The Center for Student Life and College of Business building will be the new home for the department, where space will be shared with the Ruscilli Family Bookstore.

A Historic Move After 125 Years in Old Main

This move marks a historic milestone, as print services at UF has been housed in Old Main for an estimated 125 years. The first documented account of printing press operations was recorded during President Manchester’s tenure.

Tony Wenzinger, director of Print and Postal Services, explained that plans for the move originated when the bookstore changed vendors and, as a part of that transition, the opportunity to share the space was offered to his department.

The relocation offers several practical benefits, according to Wenzinger. The department is in a newly renovated space designed for efficiency and is positioned near high-traffic areas on campus, including residence halls and dining services in CBSL.

“It gets us closer to the students and where they’re spending time, allowing for easier access to mail package pickups,” noted Wenzinger. “It gives us a little more exposure for those on and off campus. They can find us a little bit easier now.”

New Location = New Opportunities

With an estimated 75–100 visitors a day between print and mail services, the shared space is a good business move for both occupants.

“Many off-campus customers, which are often alumni or individuals with strong ties to the University, frequent the print center,” Wenzinger noted. “At the old location, they could pick up their orders without ever stepping into the bookstore. Now, those customers are more likely to browse and see what the bookstore has to offer.”

Wenzinger, who has been with the department since 2006, recollected off-campus printing services began nearly 16 years ago. Over the years, it’s a service of the department that has helped lead to consistent, incremental growth. This, in turn, benefits the University as a whole.

“The more off-campus orders we bring in means the more revenue we bring into the University. That helps to subsidize campus printing and keep printing costs low for everyone involved,” Wenzinger said. “So, it’s a ‘win-win,’ and allows us as a campus to utilize print media a lot more, which is a good thing.”

Updated Mail Pickup Process and Team Information

One notable change for students, faculty, and staff is the discontinuation of individual mailboxes, due to space limitations and a decline in traditional (non-package) mail. Picking up mail will be managed similarly to packages. Recipients may inquire at the counter, and any available mail will be retrieved and handed to them.

The Print and Postal Services staff includes Wenzinger, Brandi Parys, print services technician, and Colene Lewis, postal clerk. Additionally, the department typically utilizes four student helpers throughout the school year.
